Organiza�onal Background:
The purpose of United Community Corpora�on (UCC) is to provide a mul�plicity of social, educa�onal,
recrea�onal and developmental programs to improve and stabilize the quality of life in the Newark
community.
Mul�-service agency that provides: Free food and clothing pantry services; case management counseling
for emergency shelter residents; housing/rental assistance; Summer Day camp care and a�er school
programs; Senior Services including recrea�on and health/wellness educa�onal services; Job prepara�on
and voca�onal training including computer skills; and advocacy.
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Parent Liaison for
our Restora�ve, Transforma�ve Jus�ce Program. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of
restora�ve jus�ce principles, a commitment to suppor�ng youth in conflict resolu�on, and the ability to
engage effec�vely with parents and caregivers. This role is pivotal in fostering posi�ve rela�onships
between the program, youth par�cipants, and their families.
Responsibili�es:
1. Parental Engagement:
• Establish and maintain posi�ve rela�onships with parents and caregivers of youth
par�cipants.
• Act as a bridge between the program and parents, ensuring clear communica�on and
understanding of restora�ve jus�ce processes.
2. Educa�on and Outreach:
• Conduct outreach efforts to educate parents about the program's principles, goals, and
impact on youth development.
• Facilitate informa�onal sessions to address any ques�ons or concerns parents may have
about the restora�ve jus�ce program.
3. Collabora�on:
• Collaborate with program coordinators, facilitators, and other staff to ensure seamless
communica�on and coordina�on between the program and parents.
• Par�cipate in team mee�ngs to provide insights and updates on parental engagement
and community dynamics.
4. Conflict Resolu�on Support:
• Provide support to parents in naviga�ng conflicts involving their youth within the
context of the restora�ve jus�ce program.
• Work closely with restora�ve jus�ce facilitators to address any challenges or concerns
raised by parents.
5. Advocacy:
• Advocate for the needs and perspec�ves of parents within the program, contribu�ng to
con�nuous improvement and adapta�on of restora�ve jus�ce prac�ces.
• Assist in crea�ng a suppor�ve community network that fosters collabora�on between
parents, caregivers, and the program.
Qualifica�ons:
• Preferred, Previous experience working with youth, families, or in restora�ve jus�ce programs.
• Strong interpersonal and communica�on skills, with the ability to engage effec�vely with diverse
groups.
• Empathy, pa�ence, and a genuine commitment to promo�ng posi�ve youth development.
• Knowledge of restora�ve jus�ce principles and prac�ces.
